Robert Barbash Award

The Robert Barbash Award

The Barbash award was instituted in 2000 in honor of Robert Barbash, the first recipient of the award that bears his name.  Mr. Barbash was a member of the Cable Television Task Force that was organized in 1985 to explore the development of a cable television access channel for Centre County.  The task force’s report, issued in March of 1986, found that there was support for the development of such a channel among local elected officials and Centre County residents.

Mr. Barbash served as C-NET’s first Board President from 1988 to 1989.  He continued to serve in various capacities on the Board of Directors until 1999, when he retired from the State College Area School District.

The Robert Barbash award is presented each year to an individual in recognition of outstanding leadership and contributions in support of C-NET.
